Season 5

Who was the old woman Ben was talking to?

January 25th, 2009 - Comments Off on Who was the old woman Ben was talking to?

It was Ms Hawking, who we’d seen previously in “Flashes before your eyes” and it appears that she has her very own personal Dharma station in the depths below a church, where she’s using this big magnetic pendulum thing, an ancient computer (like in the Swan), and a bunch of complex mathematical equations to help Ben get those that left back to the island.

So when is the Island?

January 25th, 2009 - Comments Off on So when is the Island?

This isn’t a full recap of the premiere, just a look at what on earth the island is doing, but before I begin if you haven’t watched both episodes from the season 5 premiere then stop reading now and come back after you have, I don’t want to be responsible for spoiling anything for you.

At the end of season 4 Ben turned the ‘donkey wheel’ and moved the island, to those aboard the helicopter it was simply there one moment and gone the next leaving them no option but to put the chopper down into the ocean, for Ben it resulted in him being transported from January 2005 on the Island to the middle of a Tunisian desert… in October 2005. But for those on the island the consequences appear to have been a little more severe.

As the bright light and loud noises dissipated Sawyer, Juliet and co found themselves still on the island but in a time before Flight 815 had crashed, the result being that they no longer had any of their shelter, food or other supplies that they’d been keeping at the beach. Sawyer points out to Juliet that the burning wreck of the freighter that they could see previously has now vanished. Dan arrives back at the island in the Zodiac, which he was on along with several other losties during the move and was brought along for the ride. He mentions something about “being inside the radius”, obviously both the freighter and the helicopter were outside this radius.

The ‘Island 5’TM (Sawyer, Juliet, Dan, Charlotte and Miles) head off to the hatch, on the way there the Dan explains that the Island is like a skipping record, and that they might have been dislodged from time. Before they get to the hatch the island ‘skips’ again, and when they arrive they find the hatch already imploded, in other words they’ve jumped forward again, but they don’t know how far. While standing looking over the imploded ruins of the hatch the island ‘skips’ again, taking them back again to a time before the hatch was found.

10 Questions We Hope Lost Answers This Season

January 19th, 2009 - Comments Off on 10 Questions We Hope Lost Answers This Season

Only a couple of days to go until season 5 begins, and out of the hundreds of questions that we want answered these are some of the more interesting ones. For me, the main thing I want to know is when the island is… Click here.

Season 5 Episode 7

So, why is s5e06 called “316”?

December 10th, 2008 - Comments Off on So, why is s5e06 called “316”?

I’ve got one theory. There were 324 people on Flight 815, according to the Oceanic 6 there were only 8 survivors. 324-8 = 316, or the number of bodies that would need to be on the plane that was “found” in the trench. However you would imagine that Widmore would have put 324 bodies in the plane because he didn’t expect/want any of the survivors to get off the island. Is that what 316 refers to? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

More Season 5 Promos

December 7th, 2008 - Comments Off on More Season 5 Promos

Over the past couple of weeks there have been several shorter promos for season 5 each of which included a little bit of new footage which we had not seen previously. So what new snipits have been uncovered, keep reading to find out.

First Promo (click to view)

While its not a new shot, just one I hadn’t screencapped in the previous promos, we again see Charlotte with her nose bleeding, possibly related to why she’s no longer listed as one of the primary cast. We also see Desmond telling Penny that everyone of the island is in danger. We hear (but don’t see) Jack saying that they need to protect the people that they left behind, and Hurley saying “people are trying to kill us”. Sayid and Hurley arrive at an apartment building in the same 4WD seen in the last promo. Alpert is telling Locke that “the only way to save the island is to get your people back here”. Desmond running off, with Penny asking his where he’s going. And lastly another look at the explosion that looks like its going to wipe out a couple of the background losties.

Second Promo (click to view)

Nothing too much in this next promo, just another couple of shots of Locke falling.

Third Promo (click to view)

A couple of very interesting bits in this third promo. We hear Dan say “I know what’s happening”, right before we see Ethan emerge from the bushes pointing a gun at Locke. There someones clock that flips over to 8:15, and a mystery baby being held by someone who may be wearing Dharma clothes. There is also another angle of Locke’s fall. Sawyer screaming “run” (probably as the flaming arrows start falling from the sky).

We get a slightly extended view of the explosion we’ve already seen in the other promos. We then see Sawyer again trying to get in a door… looks a little like the external door to the Swan hatch, but that can’t be possible, right? The last shot is of Juliet and Sawyer who are shielding their eyes from possibly another “discharge”. Initially I thought this might have just been the footage of them on the beach from when Ben moved the island, but looking at the background it definitely seems to be night time (which it wasn’t when the island was moved.)

Season 5 Cast Promo Photo

December 5th, 2008 - Comments Off on Season 5 Cast Promo Photo

Season 5 Promo Photo

So I had planned to post about four of the most recent (short) Lost promos which have a few small bits and pieces that weren’t in the longer promos that we’ve already seen. I’ve taken the sceen-caps, but I don’t really feel like writing about them tonight, so I’ll save that and do it sometime over the weekend (I promise).

To hold you over here is a full cast promo shot, and even though Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) doesn’t appear to be part of the “permanent” cast for next season she is still in the photo.

UPDATE: Just saw this mentioned briefly on another site, take a close look at Faraday’s left foot…or the lack there of. Don’t believe me? I’ll post a close up later. It definitely looks like its been “photoshopped” though as the leg of his pants is in front of the tree branch which itself is about a metre in front of Faraday. How odd… maybe that why ABC has been asking sites to take down the high res version…

Aside from the discussion of several promos, I’m also planning to write about the 2-min s5e01 promo that was released a couple of days ago (early access was given to those participating in “Dharma Special Access”), and I’m also going to get back to analysing the Marvin Candle/Pierre Chang comic-con video.

A closer look at the second Season 5 Lost promo

November 23rd, 2008 - Comments Off on A closer look at the second Season 5 Lost promo

The second full length promo for season 5 was released a couple of days ago during Grey’s Anatomy, and a little alter it was also made available online. The promo is a joint venture of sorts between “The Fray” and ABC, and is being used to promote both Lost and The Fray’s new single “You found me”. While some of the scenes shown were also in the first promo, there is still a bunch of new stuff to go over. The full video is attached so you can check it out at your leisure.

First of the ‘new’ bits is Hurley sitting at a table, probably in the house that we’ve already seen in his flash forwards. There is a quick shot of Kate holding Aaron. We get a close up of Locke’s eye, which zooms out to show him flat on his back (not sure if this is new or not). We get another angle of Faraday’s confrontation with the person in the hazmat suit, this time more from the perspective of the person in the suit.

We see Sayid and Jack having a fight, and Sayid appears to have a n oxygen mask around his neck, so this could possible take place after the scene of Hurley helping Sayid out from the last promo, which itself is possibly connect to some of the other shots in this promo. After a few flashes of Desmond (who wasn’t in the first promo), we see a couple of the losties still on the island (is it Scott or Steve?), and Miles notices a bomb which appears to be attached to a trip wire (the type of traps that Rousseau used), theres and explosion and Miles dives away. Could this be the end of Scott/Steve (which ever one isn’t dead). Just before the explosion there is also the first flash of the “Ajira Airways” logo on the screen.

Ajira Airways: Destiny Calls

November 22nd, 2008 - Comments Off on Ajira Airways: Destiny Calls

During the new season 5 promo (will post about it later) a logo for Ajira Airways flashes up a couple of times, the sites asks for an email address, says its launching January 21 (same as Lost) and has an ABC disclaimer in the footer (view source). I wonder what it all means, could it be the beginning of a “better” ARG to lead into Season 5? Click Here.

Screenshots and Theories from the Season 5 Promo

October 30th, 2008 - Comments Off on Screenshots and Theories from the Season 5 Promo

I’m trying really hard to make sure I don’t read any spoilers about season 5. Last year while waiting for season 4 to begin it got the better of me and I thought I’d just read a few bits. One of those ‘bits’ was who the Oceanic Six were, although the spoilers I read said that Jin was one of the six, another ‘bit’ was that Aaron was off the island and being cared for by Kate who was treating him as her own. Both were things that I’d rather have found out by just watching.

So since all we’ve got so far is the 40 seconds or so from the second half of the season 5 promo, I’m going to start theorising. Why? Because I can. Below are a selection of the more interesting shots from the promo, click each to view them full-size. Also I’d say that most of these are from the first couple of episodes since they’ve only shot the first half a dozen or so.

First shot is the Dharma logo that flashes up a couple of time around the middle of the promo. Then there’s Locke on the ground with somebody pointing a gun at him. Locke certainly looks surprised, not sure who its is though, perhaps one of the Others, or perhaps someone else, we don’t know “when” the island is. Juliet looks like she’s discovered a hatch very similar to the Swan hatch that Locke and Boone found way back when. Since the Swan blew up, its probably not it, but another station. Or again it could be a case of “when” not “where”.

Dan is in a cave, and he’s got a Dharma safety hat on. Could he possibly be underneath the Orchid station where the “donkey wheel” is/was. Locke, it either night or he’s inside, maybe being held captive by whoever was pointing that gun at him. Alpert with a flaming torch, I hope we find out some more about Alpert and his apparent immortality. Someone with a compass, Locke had a compass at one point so it could be him, trying to find Jacob maybe. Hurley with a gun.

Looks like Hurley and Sayid pay someone a visit. Sayid kicks ass, Hurley cheers him on. My (probably way off the mark) theory is that they’ve gone to get Des. Why? Continue reading Screenshots and Theories from the Season 5 Promo →
