Room 23
This missing piece is all about Walt, but he’s not shown and his name isn’t even mentioned.
When it starts Juliet is standing in a corridor, and there are people rushing by with an alarm going off in the background. Ben approaches from the end of the corridor, and asks what’s happening, Juliet replies “he did it again”. Ben questions this, “did what again?”, Juliet says “you know”.
Ben tells Juliet that she’s going to have to ask him to stop doing it. Juliet refuses to go into the room, says no one else will go in there either because they are all scared. They talk about ‘him’ (Walt) and Ben says that it was Jacob that wanted him there because he’s special. Juliet disagrees, she says he’s dangerous. She takes Ben outside to show him something.
Once they are outside Juliet says “what kind of a child does this?” and shows Ben a ‘collection’ of dead birds on the staircase, just below a boarded up window which we can assume is the window to Room 23 where Walt is being kept. I suppose whatever “it” is that he’s doing is resulting in the dead birds.
Now, back to Room 23. This is the same room that the Losties found Karl in when he was being brainwashed by the others, remember the funky brainwashing video (I might try and find a copy of it and post it up here). What is so special about this room I wonder, we’ve seen it used for brainwashing, but I’m guessing thats not what they are using it for with Walt.
Sounds more like they are just holding Walt in room 23, perhaps because its the most ‘secure’, as indicated by the boarded up window. But then again the Losties were able to get in pretty easily.
And whats with Walt and all the dead birds. Remember in a flashback in season 1 (I think) we saw a bird fly into a window while Walt was looking at a picture of a bird in a book. At the time it didn’t even seem to phase Walt. Is it possible that Walt has some “special” way of interacting with the wildlife, in particular birds. And when I say interacting I mean turning them into kamikaze ninja birds of death….
Kamikaze ninja birds of death would probably come in pretty useful if you fighting a giant smoke monster. Or a tropical polar bear. Or Ben.
