If you’re curious about what clues may (or may not) be hidden in the way the image has been constructed then you should definitely have a read through this post on docarzt.com. Its a pretty comprehensive write-up comparing the Lost version to the famous painting, it covers everything from the placement and position of certain characters to what they are wearing, who they are looking at, the props placed around or near them. There are also some comparisons to similar ‘Last Supper’-themed promo photos used for other TV shows in the past. After all this is Lost, and as we seen in the past they rerely produce something like this without there being some sort of hidden meaning.

These postcards popped up on the ABC website a bit over a week ago, not sure if they reveal anything of great interest, I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions. It is worth noting that “Ajira Airways” is shown in a couple of them. There has also been some new info around Ajira popup in the past couple of days which I’d like to find time to write up before the premiere.

While its not a new shot, just one I hadn’t screencapped in the previous promos, we again see Charlotte with her nose bleeding, possibly related to why she’s no longer listed as one of the primary cast. We also see Desmond telling Penny that everyone of the island is in danger. We hear (but don’t see) Jack saying that they need to protect the people that they left behind, and Hurley saying “people are trying to kill us”. Sayid and Hurley arrive at an apartment building in the same 4WD seen in the last promo. Alpert is telling Locke that “the only way to save the island is to get your people back here”. Desmond running off, with Penny asking his where he’s going. And lastly another look at the explosion that looks like its going to wipe out a couple of the background losties.

A couple of very interesting bits in this third promo. We hear Dan say “I know what’s happening”, right before we see Ethan emerge from the bushes pointing a gun at Locke. There someones clock that flips over to 8:15, and a mystery baby being held by someone who may be wearing Dharma clothes. There is also another angle of Locke’s fall. Sawyer screaming “run” (probably as the flaming arrows start falling from the sky).

We get a slightly extended view of the explosion we’ve already seen in the other promos. We then see Sawyer again trying to get in a door… looks a little like the external door to the Swan hatch, but that can’t be possible, right? The last shot is of Juliet and Sawyer who are shielding their eyes from possibly another “discharge”. Initially I thought this might have just been the footage of them on the beach from when Ben moved the island, but looking at the background it definitely seems to be night time (which it wasn’t when the island was moved.)

The only new bit of interesting this promo is Sun talking to Jack, she tells him “you did what you had to do, we probably all would have died instead of just my husband”. Its not clear when this conversation takes place, but it could possibly be after Locke/Bentham’s death meangin she’s had time to forgive Jack

With still 6 weeks left until the premiere, theres bound to be several more promos, plus the sneak peaks that are being provided by “Dharma Special Access”, which replaced this years ARG which was ended early.

So I had planned to post about four of the most recent (short) Lost promos which have a few small bits and pieces that weren’t in the longer promos that we’ve already seen. I’ve taken the sceen-caps, but I don’t really feel like writing about them tonight, so I’ll save that and do it sometime over the weekend (I promise).

To hold you over here is a full cast promo shot, and even though Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) doesn’t appear to be part of the “permanent” cast for next season she is still in the photo.

UPDATE: Just saw this mentioned briefly on another site, take a close look at Faraday’s left foot…or the lack there of. Don’t believe me? I’ll post a close up later. It definitely looks like its been “photoshopped” though as the leg of his pants is in front of the tree branch which itself is about a metre in front of Faraday. How odd… maybe that why ABC has been asking sites to take down the high res version…

Aside from the discussion of several promos, I’m also planning to write about the 2-min s5e01 promo that was released a couple of days ago (early access was given to those participating in “Dharma Special Access”), and I’m also going to get back to analysing the Marvin Candle/Pierre Chang comic-con video.

First of the ‘new’ bits is Hurley sitting at a table, probably in the house that we’ve already seen in his flash forwards. There is a quick shot of Kate holding Aaron. We get a close up of Locke’s eye, which zooms out to show him flat on his back (not sure if this is new or not). We get another angle of Faraday’s confrontation with the person in the hazmat suit, this time more from the perspective of the person in the suit.

We see Sayid and Jack having a fight, and Sayid appears to have a n oxygen mask around his neck, so this could possible take place after the scene of Hurley helping Sayid out from the last promo, which itself is possibly connect to some of the other shots in this promo. After a few flashes of Desmond (who wasn’t in the first promo), we see a couple of the losties still on the island (is it Scott or Steve?), and Miles notices a bomb which appears to be attached to a trip wire (the type of traps that Rousseau used), theres and explosion and Miles dives away. Could this be the end of Scott/Steve (which ever one isn’t dead). Just before the explosion there is also the first flash of the “Ajira Airways” logo on the screen.

Charlotte and Den get captured or found by what appears to be the Others, but could it be the Hostiles… since they look a little “rougher” than the Others, and are using bows and arrows. Then again one of them definitely appears to be wearing Dharma clothing. Interesting. There’s a clean-shaven Jack who’s still hanging around with Ben. Juliet with a gun, looking scared. Faraday looking around, and Locke standing in the rain looking at/for something.

Locke finding one of the statues from the drug plane (again, not sure if this is new or old). We see Hurley looking through a window in a door, with what appears to be an unconscious Sayid in the foreground. I don’t think this is directly connected to the fight we Sayid in earlier on since Hurleys wearing different clothes and the house looks nicer. Then we se Juliet and Sawyer running away from flaming arrows as the losties appear to be under attack.

Charlotte, Faraday and Miles are also seen dodging the arrows. Who is attacking them? Probably the same people that were pointing arrows at Charlotte and Faraday earlier, but “who” they are is still the question. Others? Hostiles? Dharma? Zombies?. There a quick flash of Charlotte with a bloody nose (think this was in the last promo too). Why is this interesting? A couple of reasons, both Des’ and Minkowski’s noses bled due to their time jumping adventures, and Rebecca Mader (who plays Charlotte) is no longer listed as part of the main cast. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Penny and Desmond appear to be together, Penny even appears to have a wedding ring on. Sawyer is physically threatening Miles (had to happen sooner or later). Then theres the second flash of the Ajira Airways logo. And then theres a quick shot of Locke falling. Where he’s falling is interesting, it looks little like the scenery around near where the drug smugglers plane was.

Desmond is shown running out of a bedroom. Interestingly this bedroom appears to be on a boat (have a look at the windows), so this might not be long after the Oceanic 6 leave on the life raft from the end of Season 4. Hurley is driving wildly, looks like he’s in a rush to get somewhere. He’s wearing the same clothes (complete with blood stain) from the scene where we see him with the gun in the first promo. Could it be that he’s rushing to get an injured Sayid somewhere?

Locke and Juliet are standing looking out at the island, they are shielding their eyes, but is it just from the sun or maybe another “discharge”-like event. The last shot is of Jack in his suit saying (presumably to Ben) “let go get them”.

This promo was released with almost exactly two months til the premiere, and the last one was released with almost 3 months to go. So we might see another one around mid-December. The question remains to see what the whole “Ajira Airways” thing is, whether its a continuation of the “Dharma Wants You” ARG or something else. I find it a little strange that some sites are saying that the ARG is over simply because they released the latest ‘piece’ a month earlier than originally planned. I personally don’t think its over, just that reacted to the general annoyance that we were going to have to wait for nearly two months for it to continue and they pushed things forward. If the Ajira thing is a continuation I hope its more interesting that “Dharma Wants You” was

So since all we’ve got so far is the 40 seconds or so from the second half of the season 5 promo, I’m going to start theorising. Why? Because I can. Below are a selection of the more interesting shots from the promo, click each to view them full-size. Also I’d say that most of these are from the first couple of episodes since they’ve only shot the first half a dozen or so.

First shot is the Dharma logo that flashes up a couple of time around the middle of the promo. Then there’s Locke on the ground with somebody pointing a gun at him. Locke certainly looks surprised, not sure who its is though, perhaps one of the Others, or perhaps someone else, we don’t know “when” the island is. Juliet looks like she’s discovered a hatch very similar to the Swan hatch that Locke and Boone found way back when. Since the Swan blew up, its probably not it, but another station. Or again it could be a case of “when” not “where”.

Dan is in a cave, and he’s got a Dharma safety hat on. Could he possibly be underneath the Orchid station where the “donkey wheel” is/was. Locke, it either night or he’s inside, maybe being held captive by whoever was pointing that gun at him. Alpert with a flaming torch, I hope we find out some more about Alpert and his apparent immortality. Someone with a compass, Locke had a compass at one point so it could be him, trying to find Jacob maybe. Hurley with a gun.

Looks like Hurley and Sayid pay someone a visit. Sayid kicks ass, Hurley cheers him on. My (probably way off the mark) theory is that they’ve gone to get Des. Why? Ok, since “everyone must go back to the island” I’m assuming that includes Des. Des would be able to fight back to a certain degree due to his military training, but Sayid would still get the better of him. Why would he fight? Its been a couple of years since they left the island, and there is no way on earth that Des would willingly return to the place he was trapped for years. Probably wrong, meh. Sun is in what appears to be a police interview room, the last shot of her turning around, she looks like she has seen something/someone. Could it be another ‘appearance’ of Christian Shephard or maybe Charlie?

Kate is packing a gun, no real surprises there. She tells Aaron they are going on a holiday. By plane? Expect a bumpy landing perhaps? Who’s still around on the island? From what is shown it looks like Juliet, Sawyer, Charlotte, Miles, Dan, Rose, Bernard and a few others, oh and don’t forget Locke. As for Jin, last place we saw him was on the Kahana as it exploded.

Dan approaches a door which appears to be one of the Dharma hatches. There is a logo but I can’t tell if its a specific one or not. The interesting bit it that a guy wearing one of the yellow Dharma ‘hazmat’ suits greets him with a gun. Last time we saw suits like these were in Desmond’s flashbacks, and they wore them when they ventured outdoors because they “were in quarantine”. The shot of the Nigerian drug plane falling is a bit odd, since it happened in season 1, it might just be there to throw everyone off. I’ll say it again, but the “when” issue has been mentioned several time as a ‘big’ thing, most recently by Damon Lindelof on the season 4 DVDs, so you’re guess is as good as mine. The last couple are Jack and Ben, with Ben telling Jack “thank God for second chances”…as in having the chance to do something a second time…nah surely not.

It may still be about 3 months away but we’ve now had our first peak at season 5 of Lost. The first half is your typical overall summary of what has happened so far sort of thing, and then the second half contains some (very, very brief) snippets from season 5.

Around half way, during the scene with Jack and Ben, you might have noticed the screen flashes a couple of times. If you pause it (quite hard to do with the flash video) its actually a Dharma Initiative logo on the screen. This is what is shown.

So what does it show from season 5? It looks like Juliet discovers the swan station, or perhaps uncovers another Dharma station. Sayid mentions a safe house, Hurley has a gun, Sayid is beating some dude up, and then Hurley is helping Sayid out, he says they “never should have left that island”. Sun appears to be locked in an interview room of some description. Kates packing her bags…and her gun, and she tells Aaron that they are going on vacation. Jack says that everyone they left behind would die too if he didn’t go back. Ben says “thank God for second chances”.

There are also a couple of shots near the end which I think might just be “fillers”. One looks like Kelvin (dressed in in yellow rubber suit) confronting Des at the door into the swan station, the other is of the Nigerian drug plane (the one that squashed Boone) falling from the cliff. Update: After looking at it again, I think the guy with the backback on thats encounters the dude in the yellow suit is actually Faraday, just leaves the question as to who’s in the suit?

Given that this promo has appeared almost two months earlier than the first promo we got for season 4 I hope they drip feed some more bits and pieces over the next three months.
